Job Description
Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager and is responsible for all aspects of payroll processing with a high degree of accuracy. This includes processing our bi-weekly payroll and ensuring our employees are paid timely and accurately. The Payroll Specialist assists with payroll compliance matters, resolves payroll errors, manages wage garnishments, year-end W2 balancing and must have knowledge of payroll wage and hour laws.
Position Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
- Calculate and process bi-weekly payroll, timecard adjustments, retro payments, overpayments, stop payments, taxable fringe, gross ups, gift cards and other calculations as needed.
- Import and reconcile ADP EPIP file, bonuses, incentive payments, commissions, or other pay related items.
- Day-to day payroll maintenance, including updates to employee schedules, employment terms and employee pay profiles in ADP Vantage.
- Process new hires, transfers and terminations and prorate salaries, if needed.
- Manage and review employee timecards for errors via reporting.
- Prepare Wisely cards or manual checks for off cycle payroll related payments.
- Research and provide required documents for internal auditors, and SOX compliance.
- Assist HR and business partners to resolve employee inquiries.
- Identify opportunities and solutions to automate manual processes as well as create and maintain SOPs for payroll related functions.
- Participate in projects that may be assigned on an ad hoc basis to support department and/or corporate initiatives as necessary.
- As needed, set up new earnings/deduction codes with ADP, HRIS, Finance, Benefits and the Payroll Manager.
- Scan wage garnishments and child support payments to ADP WGPS for processing.
- Contribute in finalizing year-end payroll, including final adjustment runs and W-2/W3 reconciliation.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Strong working knowledge of business (Outlook, MS Teams) and MS Office such as excel (pivot tables, vlookups)
- Maintain confidentiality and security of payroll information.
- Ability to analyze problems and apply effective problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues.
- Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of key responsibilities, including all payroll procedures and policies
- Strong knowledge of Wage and Hour Laws as well as multistate tax withholding.
- Ability to plan, organizes and prioritizes tasks to meet critical deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of ADP Time and Attendance System strongly preferred.
- Five or more years' minimum experience with ADP, Vantage HCM preferred.
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification, preferred.
