Responsibilities
SR. PAYROLL SPECIALIST
This is a fast-paced payroll position responsible for the processing of Canadian and US multi-state payrolls for over 1000+ employees using the UKG system. As our ideal payroll specialist, you will have 4+ years’ experience processing payroll including experience with multi-state tax allocations, garnishments, timekeeping systems, union and non-union payroll, and reconciliation.
Additionally, you will:
- Perform various audits and reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely payments.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on payroll processing procedures for US and Canada.
- Prepare payroll funding and reconcile payroll registers and general ledger.
- Maintain garnishments, tax levies, and child support orders.
- Manages benefit and collection arrears.
- Create, update, and cross-train procedures in the UKG system.

Qualifications
Sr Payroll Specialist
- Associate degree in related field or equivalent experience.
- 4 or more years of hands-on payroll processing experience in a large multi-state organization.
- Advanced payroll training, FPC, or CPP preferred.
- Solid understanding of essential payroll principles
- Ability to work within established processing timeframes to complete tasks both accurately and within established timeframes.
- Experience with multi-state and local payroll taxes, outsourced and in-house payroll processing systems.
- Proficiency with MS Office applications and report writing tools.
- Demonstrated good judgment and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and be detail oriented.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with individuals at all levels within and outside the company.
- Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision in a team environment.
