Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as an Assistant Manager – Vessel Crewing. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of mariner personnel, crewing operations, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Manage mariner work schedules, ensuring optimal staffing levels for vessels.
· Ensure vessels are properly manned in accordance with USCG STCW and customer requirements.
· Verify and maintain mariners’ credentials and certifications to ensure compliance.
· Organize and coordinate crew change logistics for marine crews by collaborating with customers, vessel masters, and project managers.
· Manage international and domestic travel, including flights, US Customs' lists, work visas, immunizations, etc.
· Accurately reviewing and first approval of mariner payroll.
· Serve as Marine Personnel Managers backup in their absence.
· Handle employee relations and discipline under direction of manager.
· Collaborate with safety and operations teams to integrate company safety protocols and operational integrity guidelines into crewing practices.
· Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and efficiency.
· Complete multiple reports accurately and timely as needed.
· Assist with onboarding and offboarding processes, file management, drug and alcohol program, and training requirements as needed.
· Requires regular after-hours on-call availability.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Effective communicator with exceptional interpersonal competence.
· Excellent prioritization, organizational skills, coordination and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Ability to manage multiple projects requiring disciplined planning.
· Result driven, self-motivated, reliable, dependable and professional.
Education and Experience:
· 3 years or more experience in vessel crewing, maritime operations, or related roles.
· Bachelor's Degree preferred.
· Full scope understanding of U.S. Coast Guard credential requirements for vessel crewmembers onboard vessels.
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
· Able to routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
· Ability to push, pull, and or squat.
· Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer.
