The role is responsible for full life cycle internal recruitment from creating and posting job requisitions, screening resumes, conducting phone and in-person interviews, checking references, and negotiating salaries, to being a resource for the newly hired employee after they start their career with Strittmatter Companies. The successful candidate will partner with the hiring managers to understand our business plans, workforce planning strategies, and staffing needs to provide a personal and professional experience. Additionally, the Recruiter will identify opportunities for upgrading candidate experience and recruitment process efficiency.
Strittmatter Companies is seeking a Recruiter who remains involved with the new hires throughout their tenure at the Company. A Company representative who is their advocate and advisor.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Develops, facilitates, and implements all phases of the recruitment process.
- Collaborates with department managers to understand the requirements, duties, and qualifications desired for vacant position(s).
- Identifies and drafts detailed and accurate job posting and hiring criteria.
- Collects and analyzes data to maintain current understanding of fair and competitive market salaries, candidate availability, and demand for candidates in particular fields.
- Identifies and implements efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the organization.
- Screens applications and selects qualified candidates.
- Counsels candidates on the interview and hiring process.
- Schedules interviews; oversees preparation of interview questions and other hiring and selection materials.
- Collaborates with the hiring manager and/or other human resource staff during the offer process, identifying and recommending salary ranges, start dates, and other pertinent details.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and company policies.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to create and implement sourcing strategies for recruitment for a variety of roles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with aptitude in conducting interviews.
- Proactive and independent with the ability to take initiative.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to hiring and recruitment.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
- Five years managing all phases of the recruitment and hiring process highly preferred.
- 2+ years of experience recruiting construction workers to include equipment operators, laborers, CDL drivers, Foremen, etc. highly preferred.
- Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, required.
- Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
