Ground Works Land Design located in Westlake, OH is currently seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager.

Responsibilities:
- Serves as a liaison between management and employees by handling all employee questions, concerns, and conflicts.
- Work with and establish yourself as the main point of contact for Group Management Services (GMS), the company's outsourced HR agency.
- Participate in periodic calls with GMS.
- Plays an active role in the company's overall recruiting strategy; often working with the Marketing department to create job ads.
- Expected recruiting tactics, but not limited to, include organization and attendance at job fairs, HR seminars, industry specific networking, etc.
- Plans and conduct new employee orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives.
- Build upon company's 'employee first day' program to ensure a successful start for all future staff.
- Research, study, and demonstrate full understanding of company's employee handbook and provide the following support for current staff members
- Educates employees on various program offerings and any changes.
- Develops training and development program that ensures all employees are familiar with their job responsibilities, company policies and relevant legal and safety requirements.
- Provides current and prospective employees with information about policies, job duties and working conditions.
- Processes disciplinary or termination paperwork to ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Partners with our Professional Employer Organization on strategic HR items, compliance measures, employee performance issues and special projects.
- Advises managers on organizational policy matters such as equal employment opportunity and sexual harassment and recommend needed changes.
- Responds and gathers documentation for unemployment and legal hearings.
- Provides annual turnover/retention rates and continually look for ways to improve rates.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation to ensure compliance.
- Performs all other duties as assigned, including day-to-day business acumen.
Requirements:
- Education and/or Experience - Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years related experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience. PHR/SHRM-CP certification is preferred.
- Language Skills – Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents. Ability to interact effectively and present information in both written and oral form with management, employees and labor related organizations.
- Mathematical Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to practical situations. Ability to use HR related math such as calculating turnover, retention and total compensation reports.
- Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. This role requires an above-average knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in Spanish preferred, but not required
