JOB SUMMARY
As the leader of the plant HR function and a critical member of the site leadership team, the Human Resources Manager will lead a team responsible for developing and maintaining effective employee relations, hourly workforce recruiting, and deploying large-scale HR initiatives, programs and processes. To be successful in this role, a candidate must be comfortable in a manufacturing environment, able to juggle multiple priorities, and have strong communications and interpersonal skills while working with a diverse employee population. They must be a solid practitioner in all/most sub-specialty areas of HR and have the knowledge and experience to provide expert advice and recommendations to our plant leadership. This role will also provide support to a small, secondary site as well.

- Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Leads, mentors, and develops a team of HR staff to foster their professional growth and enhance departmental effectiveness through coaching and guidance.
- Provides support and guidance to direct HR reports, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise.
- Administers and executes routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Supports the talent acquisition process for the site, which may include recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of qualified job applicants; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Oversees performance management processes, including goal setting, performance evaluations, and coaching, and support managers in addressing performance issues.
- Manages employee relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and conflict resolution. Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Proactively identifies and implements practical employee relations solutions.
- Ensures the safety of employees, coaches employees on the floor relative to safety concerns
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and best practices by reviewing and updating policies, maintaining accurate HR records, and documentation.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related major
- At least 5 years of general HR experience in a manufacturing/distribution-type environment
- At least 2-3 years of previous experience as an HR Supervisor or Manager
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and coach a diverse employee population in a matrixed environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and HRIS systems.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
