We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Immigration and Citizenship Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of immigration and citizenship processes within La Colaborativa. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of immigration laws, regulations, and procedures, and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations while facilitating the smooth and efficient immigration and citizenship processes for our members of the community. The Immigration and Citizenship Manager will work closely with internal stakeholders, external agencies, and legal counsel to provide expert guidance and support related to immigration and citizenship matters.
Responsibilities:
- Launch & Oversee Citizenship classes and supervise Citizenship instructor.
- Oversee and manage all aspects of immigration and citizenship processes and oversee our partnership with Lawyers for Civil Rights.
- Stay up-to-date with immigration laws, regulations, and policies to ensure compliance and provide accurate information and guidance to employees and clients.
- Develop and implement efficient processes and procedures to streamline immigration and citizenship applications, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Responsible for the creation and development of La Colaborativa DOJ Recognition and accreditation.
- Collaborate with legal counsel and external agencies to handle complex immigration and citizenship cases, resolving issues and mitigating risks effectively.
- Ensure compliance with immigration laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Monitor changes in immigration policies and procedures, assess their impact on the organization, and provide recommendations for adaptation.
- Mitigate risks by maintaining accurate records, ensuring data privacy and security, and adhering to strict confidentiality guidelines.
Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employees, clients, and external agencies regarding immigration and citizenship matters.
- Provide guidance and support to employees and clients on immigration requirements, processes, and timelines.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with government agencies, immigration attorneys, and other relevant stakeholders.
Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver training programs and workshops to educate members of the community.
- Create and maintain resources, such as manuals, FAQs, and online portals, to assist employees and clients with immigration and citizenship-related queries.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, international relations, or a related discipline). A master's degree or a Juris Doctor (J.D.) is a plus, but not required.
- Proven experience (3 years) working in immigration and citizenship management, preferably non-profit.
- Familiarity with different visa types, work permits, permanent residency, and citizenship processes.
- Strong understanding of compliance and risk management principles related to immigration and citizenship matters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact confidently and professionally with employees, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in using immigration management software and databases.
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish. Additional language skills are advantageous.
