Position Responsibilities
- Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
- Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to ensure continuous improvement in the efficiency of our department and the services we provide.
- Recommend and develop employee relations practices to foster positive employer-employee relations.
- Conduct investigations related to harassment and discrimination allegations or other employee relations issues and make recommendations for appropriate company action(s) in compliance with all employment laws.
- Advise and train managers and supervisors in best employee relations practices and strategies for managing conflict or other employee issues.
- Maintain up to date, user-friendly, legally compliant, and clear and concise employee policies and postings.
- Maintain organized employee files and records, ensuring that necessary paperwork is obtained and filed in a timely manner.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze data collected for trends to reduce turnover and ensure that necessary employment termination paperwork is completed.
- Support talent acquisition with appropriate guidance, as needed.
- Support talent development, utilizing leadership and employee skills development and performance management process to achieve talent base required.
- Work with EHS team to support programs, administer policies, promote best practices, and elevate complex issues as necessary.
- Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers in all HR processes, such as benefits, leaves of absence, and employee relations, with accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal and medical employee information, with distribution only when authorized and required.
- Manage projects (i.e., Onsite Biometrics and Flu Clinics), by clarifying objectives, developing efficient timelines, communicating project status, analyzing cost issues, and completing projects within budget and specifications.
- Oversee full benefits lifecycle including facilitation of the New Employee benefits orientation, assisting employees with enrollment in benefit plans, managing Annual Enrollment and mid-year Qualifying Life Events.
- Administer and ensure compliance with all benefits, leaves of absence (including MA Paid Family Medical Leave Act and the federal Family and Medical Leave Act), and related laws, to include worker’s compensation and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADAAA) and HIPAA.
- Support the planning and execution of employee events and activities.
- Continuously improve job knowledge and skills by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Explore opportunities to add value to assignments and projects outside of the HR function.
- Perform other tasks as assigned.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management or closely related field required.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional human resource experience, including 3 years employee relations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP certification required.
- Thorough understanding of state and federal employment laws and the ability to comprehend, interpret, and apply the appropriate sections of applicable laws, guidelines, regulations, and policies to each situation effectively.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of Federal and State Paid Family Medical Leave Acts. Massachusetts Paid Family Medical Leave experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to influence people.
- Strong writing skills, including the ability to create and follow formatting, and achieve consistency in communication style.
- Ability to remain tactful, calm, and persuasive in controversial and/or confrontational situations.
- Excellent interpersonal, presentation and customer service skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proven ability to effect organizational change.
- Strong leadership skills, and the ability to energize and motivate teams.
- Willingness to travel (up to 15%).

Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to wear ear plugs, safety glasses, and safety toed shoes.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and occasionally lift/push/pull up to 15 pounds.
