Addison Northwest School District is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Human Resources and Benefits Specialist to join our administrative team. Job Description:
The Human Resources and Benefits Specialist will be responsible for processing and maintaining human resources and benefits functions for the district. This position will work collaboratively with the Business Office personnel to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee benefits, payroll contracts, and personnel files. The Human Resources and Benefits Specialist works closely with the Superintendent to support the overall human resources functions within the organization including attracting, retaining, and managing employees effectively while ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Onboard new employees and provide necessary information to Business Office for benefits deductions, payroll contracts, and Ready Sub system setup
- Assist with new employee orientation
- Serve as the primary contact for all employee benefit programs
- Organize and conduct employee benefit meetings
- Ensure compliance with relevant ANWSD policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and master agreements
- Maintain employee personnel files in collaboration with the Superintendent's Administrative Assistant
- Administer the District's Health, Dental, Vision, Life, LTD, Section 125, HRA, HSA, and Voluntary Retirement programs
- Manage the annual Open Enrollment process for all employee benefits
- Maintain active memberships with VSHRP, SHRM, and AASPA to stay informed of industry changes
- Provide timely and accurate updates on employee benefits through various communication channels
- Maintain COBRA information and disseminate as required
- Administer Workers Compensation and Unemployment Claims
- Administer employee leaves and accommodations, including FMLA, ADA, and VTPFL
- Verify monthly invoices from providers and collaborate with Business Office to process claims payments and contributions
- Responsible for EEOC, OEWS, CMS, and ACA reporting
- Communicate with insurance carriers, government agencies, and other external parties regarding employee and benefits matters
- Maintain audit records pertaining to Human Resources and Benefits
- Collaborate with Business Office to implement and maintain employee portal and benefits enrollment modules in school ERP financial system
- Maintain and post Labor Law updates as required by law
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field
- Proven experience as an HR Specialist or similar role
- Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity benefits administration
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally
