We are seeking a skilled Director of Finance & Human Resources to oversee all fiscal aspects of our non-profit company. The ideal candidate will lead and direct overall responsibility for all accounting / finance matters and management of the day-to-day operations
Duties:
- Overall responsibility for all accounting / finance matters and management of the day-to-day operations of both a non-profit & for-profit subsidiary corporation including but not limited to payroll, A/P and general ledger
- Oversee the production of monthly reports including required internal reconciliations for coordination with third party outsourced CFO
- Direct and oversee Accounts Payable functions in Quick Books
- Monitor and make “real time” cash flow reports to assess the financial position of the organization daily and ensure best practices for safeguarding monies are established and maintained.
- Responsible for all payroll activity for staff including Simple IRA, Health Plan, Union pension, etc. in coordination with Pro-Service
- Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit issues are resolved, and all compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements is in accordance with U.S. GAAP and federal, state and other required supplementary schedules and information.
- Oversee business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis
- Responsible for compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and contractual & labor guidelines, ensuring that all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel, and monitoring compliance.
- Streamline and improve accounting functions through the optimum use of available technology
- Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee any grants, awards and programs.
- Oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, inventory, merchandise, and fixed assets
- Perform any other reasonable business functions as assigned by the CEO
Requirements:
- Advanced degree in Accounting / Finance
- At least 5 years of experience in an accounting / finance position in the not-for-profit or for-profit sector, banking and finance or a related field in a supervisory capacity
- High level of knowledge of general office and accounting software (Quick Books Enterprise) as well as the ability to learn Cemetery specific software (SRS), not-for-profit general ledger software and the use of multiple databases
- Not-for-profit accounting skills in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, regulations and compliance requirements, and appropriate Code of Federal Regulations sections.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Strong analytical skills and strong knowledge of United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
- Knowledge of banking and the ability to manage banking / brokerage relationships as well as the ability to obtain financing
